5v VSS instead of VR

So the standard 4L60E build guide has a VR circuit in place for the speed sensor. The toyota a340 transmission has a nifty 3 wire sensor that puts out a nice and clean 5v square wave pulse. How would I go about bringing that into the GPIO board for VSS use?

shaodome,

You can bring the 5V straight in and jumper the VR circuit. If this was mine, I would put a 5.6V Zener diode on the circuit, just in case the are externally generated voltage spikes.

To jumper the unbuilt VR1 circuit (and by-pass it), you can run a wire:
- from the end of R59 furthest from the heat sink (this connects to the ampseal pin 2)
- to the end of R42 furthest from the heat sink (this connects to the VR1/PT0 jumper on the 25x2 header)

Put the 5.6V Zener in the D23 location (with the band oriented as on the silkscreen).

If you have already built the circuit, lift (or cut) the ends of R42 and R59 closest the heat sink, remove R43 and R44 (cut or unsolder), then run the jumper as above.

Lance.

Awesome. That is what I thought poking around with the DMM but it is always nice to hear it was correct. Thanks for your replies.
