Re: Burnout Mode Questions

Shaodome, Can you comment more on what you said about the sprag? I'm the user that asked Lance for the 2nd gear start feature. He coined it burn-out-mode, after I told him what I was going to do with it. I remember some GM cars in the mid-90s that would start in 2nd gear if D2 was selected. I think ...

Re: Changing Device CAN ID

Dave, For MShift, CANbus ID is a user setting much like any other. It is under 'Tools -> CAN Configuration'. You can read about it here: http://www.msgpio.com/manuals/mshift/V41tune.html#oa However, to prevent people accidentally screwing up their comms, it might be un-editable in the ini until you...

Changing Device CAN ID

I am having troubles adding a 2nd device (CAN-EGT) to my MS3 system. I have MS3Pro as device 0, MSShift as device 1 and want to add CAN-EGT as device 2. When I define CAN-EGT as device ID 2 via Project Properties\CAN Devices adding it to the list and assigning it as CAN ID 2 and restart TS, it is no...

Re: Shift Target sets to -99 sometimes

Lance,

I tried 4144b with this issue, and it still does it. I don't think 4144 was meant to address this, but thought I'd post to say I tried it. Brisk shifter movement from D4 to D1 causes tGear=-99, when Report Shifter Errors is on.

Re: 2nd Gear Start option?

Lance,

I tried 4144b tonight. It worked like a champ! I can't find anything wrong with the new burnout mode (aka 2nd gear start). I works just like I had envisioned. Now all I need to do is get the car done so I can take it to the track. Maybe in a couple of weeks.

Thanks,
Dave

Re: CAN VSS

Andrew, I was also fighting VSS issues early on, thread here http://www.msgpio.com/forums/viewtopic.php?f=4&t=822 "4L60E VSS signal jumpy on roll-out". I eventually got it working quite well, after experimenting with different resistor and capacitors in parallel. Getting a scope on it ...

Re: 2nd Gear Start option?

And just to clarify, it only does this when the new feature is selected. The couple times I've done it, it almost feels like a WDT reset or it gets lost in the weeds in an endless loop. I guess if that were the case, you'd see that on the bench. I think I can hear the trans making a slightly differe...

Re: 2nd Gear Start option?

Report #2. After fixing my comms issues and enjoying my new found flexibility of using USB cable, I data logged with attempting the burnout mode feature. I had TS directly connected to MSShift RS232, and as it did yesterday, as soon as I moved the lever to 2nd it lost comms to TS. Log file attached....

Re: MS3 with CAN pass-thru issues

Concerning the comms issues I was having last night, it is working ok now. I loaded up 4138 (have some miles on this version) and did not use the TS saved MSQ load, instead sticking what was in MSShift. Then used TS to connect directly to MSShift, it was communicating nicely. I got my stop light swi...

Re: MS3 with CAN pass-thru issues

I wouldn't load the tunes, at least not the MShift one, as it is likely corrupted from the comms issue. You should recreate the MSQ by entering the relevant setting by hand into TS. Lance, Good advice. Unfortunately, I'm not as familiar as I should be with where everything is stored and what's vuln...
