Re: Square wave input for rpm

Lance,

Great, I am interested in this adapter. Would this adapter contain a chip similar to the MAX9924?

Re: Square wave input for rpm

Lance, What would this circuit look like in VR3? Would this work for the speedometer input? My thoughts: take the signal off the ABS signal wire from the VSSB on my 92 Chev that I would assume would be a 12v square signal at 128,000 pulses/mile. I would use a second VSSB from salvage yard to avoid a...

Re: Speedometer not working

Picked up a multimeter with frequency. I measured the VSS: at about 40mph freq was around 1K, when I stop it would reduce and then when full stop it would jump to around 15K. Not sure where the noise is coming from. The dash speedo remains at zero. When attempting to check the VR1 to the processor f...

Re: Speedometer not working

Lance, I am sharing the VSS output for my speedometer input, dash speedo works fine, just can't get the speed to read in the Megashift. It was working at one time but very erraticaly, did not seem to matter what settings were in the filters. Now it does not work at all. While having someone else dri...

Re: 4L80E Build Instructions

Dave/Lance,

Believe that I found another error in the 4L80E build instructions. For the input speed sensor section "I" for VR3 circuit calls for a resistor in R62 that is part of VR4 circuit. This should be in R61.

Re: Speedometer not working

Lance, Found some info on line about the speedometer used by GM. According to websites that I found, the VSSB (Vehicle Speed Sensor Buffer) converts the VR signal from the VSS to pulses per mile. These were also called DRAC modules in later years. This VSSB is a white box near the PCM behind the glo...

Speedometer not working

Lance/Dave, Project is coming along nicely, with your help of course. I can not get my vehicle speedometer to work; I have a 92 chev pickup. If I understand this correctly, the VSS on the output shaft outputs a VR signal that goes to the Megashift and Megashift outputs a 12 or 5 v square wave signal...

4L80E Build Instructions

Have built the Megashift for my 4L80E and installed in my truck. Had idled for a while while working on another unrelated issue then went for a drive. Everything seemed to work just fine. Next morning tried to go for a drive and would not seem to shift out of 1st gear and the "Current Gear"...

Re: Problem loading code on MegaShift

Lance,

The CAN comm appears to be working fine as well. I am looking forward testing and driving.

Re: Problem loading code on MegaShift

Thanks for all of the responses. I had originaly thought that the Tx and Rx might be reversed - tried that and just got an error, unkown exception error I think. I built this for the 4L80E as per the build instructions. In the instructions to bring the serial out through the Amp plug it said to use ...
